Tax Manager Responsibilities:

  • Minimum five plus years of public accounting experience supervisory experience
  • Thorough knowledge of the tax issues facing multinational U.S. companies, especially in the areas of tax compliance and consulting services with the goal of tax minimization.
  • Experience reviewing corporate returns, flow through entities, multi-state and individual tax returns along with FAS 109 and FIN 48.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills

Tax Staff Responsibilities:

  • Prepares personal tax returns of various complexities.
  • Prepares amended and carry back returns for NOLs that are simple to moderately complex.
  • Prepares personal tax projections through use of computer software.
  • Prepares compiled financial statements under supervision and performs small business bookkeeping duties, including bank reconciliations, general ledger review and maintenance, preparing adjusting journal entries and preparation of basic financial statements in QuickBooks.
  • Responds to tax notices of any sort and does initial drafts of any letters required.
  • Performs tax research projects requiring minimal expertise.
  • Prepares miscellaneous forms occasionally including property tax refund forms, Form 1099’s, and payroll tax returns.
  • Completes S-election and requests for accounting changes, as required.
  • Prepares tax accruals as may be required in preparing corporate tax returns.
  • Works with confidential client matters; requires ability to keep matters confidential.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or bachelor’s degree in another discipline with various course works in taxes and accounting, through intermediate level.
  • At least one (1) years of experience preparing individual, corporate, partnership, and S-corp tax returns at a public accounting firm (or equivalent).
  • At least one (1) year of experience using computerized tax preparation, tax planning, and tax research software.

Tax Senior Responsibilities

  • Prepares complex U.S. and state individual income, gift tax, and estate tax returns.
  • Prepares Compiled financial statements for Corporations, Partnerships, and Individuals.
  • Prepares and reviews the most complex client working trial balance from source documents and bank statement reconciliations.
  • Prepares tax planning projections for individual and corporate estimated tax liability.
  • Assumes complete responsibility for less complex business and individual clients.
  • Performs less complex tax research projects.
  • Discuss client matters with IRS and other taxing authorities in response to tax notices.
  • Delegates’ projects to staff that can handle them most efficiently and provide accounting and tax assistance to staff as needed.
  • Gains expertise in all tax software programs, including UltraTax/ Profx Tax/QuickBooks/Profx Engagement.
  • Communicates directly with Clients and develops relationships through business and social meetings.
  • Through acquired expertise, performs as a resource in designated areas for tax questions and issues from both tax and Audit staff.
  • Meets with prospective clients and cultivates prospects through referral sources.
  • Assists with tax administration projects assigned by managers and partners.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other major with tax and accounting (through intermediate) course work completed.

Tax Partner Responsibilities:

Strong experience with private client services (personal taxation, trust taxation, estate & gift taxation, charitable taxation, with exposure to flow through entities and partnership taxation and corporate taxation, including State & Local income (SALT)/Franchise tax for multi-state filers).

Experience in the review of tax returns for wealthy family members and their trusts, investment entities, and private businesses. Businesses could include Private Equity, Financial Services, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Real Estate, Wholesale Distribution, Service, Retail and Restaurants. Exposure to business returns would be a plus, but not required. Must be able to support financial growth efforts and manage a book of business. Successful candidates will possess ability to plan client engagements, provide tax consulting services, manage compliance projects, supervise and review work of team staff members, work closely with clients as well as internal managers and partners. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex tax laws. Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships.
