Consistent Volunteer

A fourth generation Houstonian and strong proponent of education, Carl is a 1977 graduate of the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business and continues to support many of the University’s programs. Named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year in 2003, he has served as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the University’s Wolfe Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation Carl also served as Chairman of the Advisory Board for the Department of Petroleum Engineering beginning in the Fall of 2004 through 2008 and is currently an active board member. He also founded and chaired for two terms, the Advisory Board of the Bauer College of Business, Department of Accounting and Taxation and was a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board Executive Committee and has been a judge of student business plans for the business college as well as a featured speaker in the Executive Speaker series at Bauer College. Many students have benefited from Carl’s wisdom as his mentee and Carl consistently volunteers to take 10 Cougars to dinner each semester to share knowledge and be available to answer questions about running businesses. Carl was awarded the University of Houston-Bauer College of Business Volunteer of the Year Award for 2007 and received a Certificate of Appreciation for 30 years of loyal service to the Houston community and the University of Houston Bauer College. He has also received the Mentor of the Year Award. Carl has served on the Board of the Alumni Association of the University of Houston for 6 years with 5 of those as Chair of the Audit Committee. Carl recently served as Co-Chair of the University of Houston Alumni Association Political Advocacy Committee. Carl currently serves on the Advisory Board for SURE (Stimulating Urban Renewal through Entrepreneurship) Program at the University of Houston Bauer College of Business. In addition to his work at the University of Houston, Carl is also the Chairman of the Advisory Board for the up and coming creation of Houston Baptist University’s new College of Engineering. He has also joined HBU’s Dunham College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board.

Key Volunteer

Carl has been a member of the C Club since 2005 and on the Executive and Finance Committees of that organization from 2007 to 2008. Carl has been a member of the Northwest Pachyderm Club and Northwest Executive council for many years and University of Houston Political Action Committee for over 10 years. Additionally, Carl was the Treasurer for Citizens for Accountability- the No Arena vote in 1999 and Treasurer for Phil Sudan for Congress in 2008. He has been a member of the Houstonian Club since 1979.


Carl served as an Advisory Director of Partners Bank of Texas which was bought by Sterling Bank, now Comerica. He was also a founder of E-stamp which was the fifth licensee in the history of the U.S. Postage Service and first to provide personal computer issued postage. Its assets were subsequently acquired by Stamp.com. He also was a cofounder of ClicknPrint now Extremtix, an internet ticketing firm. He also served on the executive committee of the PCPS of the AICPA for 6 years. As of October 20, 2015, Carl has been made a member of the Houston Maritime Museum Board of Trustees. He is very excited about what he can add to this vital group that showcases the Port of Houston’s contribution to the Houston economy.


Carl became a Stephen Minster in May 2015 after 6 months of intensive training. He feels this can be an asset to his profession as he assists clients through ups and downs in life. Stephen Minsters use their training through spiritual means to help with life’s transitions.

Giving Back to Future Generations

Tirelessly committed to the accounting professions and his community, Carl is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Business Hall of Fame Foundation for which he has worked diligently for 20 plus years. Texas Business Hall of Fame is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to provide scholarships for students in 22 Texas colleges. Carl is former Chairman of the Finance Committee and as a committee member, has served since 2010. He also a member of professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants & the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs. Carl also serves as an advisor on the Thomson Reuters Editorial Board. Carl is also a member of the AICPA’s Forensic Valuation Services Section. Actively serves on the Board of Advisors for the 2016-2017 Energy Magazine™ and Medicine Magazine™.
