The House Ways and Means Committee will begin marking up legislative proposals under the infrastructure bill (the “Build Back Better Act”) this week. The committee is expected to consider measures including universal paid family and medical leave, access to childcare, strengthening retirement savings, and trade adjustment assistance programs. Among other things, the committee will specifically consider helping families by providing up to 12 weeks of universal paid family and medical leave for all U.S. workers and expanding Medicare coverage to include dental, vision and hearing benefits. The House plans to vote on this bill by Sept. 27. Stay tuned.
