New unemployment insurance (UI) rules apply when Texas employees are called into active military service. Effective Sept. 1, 2021, if the worker’s last separation from employment with a given employer before the worker’s benefit year was due to being called into uniformed service, the employer’s UI account may not be charged. This excludes employers who are found to be in violation of reemployment provisions of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994. Contact us with questions.
